Omaha, Nebraska – October 25, 2024 – Sapp Bros. is proud to announce the successful conclusion of our recent fundraising campaign for the American Heart Association (AHA), culminating to a donation of $61,000. We pledged to match up to $25,000 in funds raised and thanks to the incredible efforts of our team and the generosity of our guests, we exceeded that goal, demonstrating our commitment to the fight against heart disease and as a testament to our belief in giving back. At Sapp Bros., we believe in driving change—not just on the road, but in our communities and for the health of our teammates and Guests.

Throughout the campaign, we engaged our team with educational resources, including CPR training videos and communications centered around AHA’s “Life’s Essential 8” tips for maintaining hearth health. By fostering a culture of wellness, we aim to inspire our teammates to adopt healthier habits that will benefit them both on and off the job.
“We are incredibly proud of the team and their dedication to the cause. Together with our Guests they raised $61,000.” said Dan Dunstan, President of Travel Centers at Sapp Bros. “Safety is a key priority for us, knowing an AED improves the success rate of a heart attack victim by double, we are committed to invest in AED’s and to train our people to use them.”
Additionally, we proudly celebrated 21 employees who met their individual fundraising goals, rewarding them with 8 additional hours of paid time off (PTO) as a token of appreciation for their efforts. We encouraged all teammates to participate in their local heart walks, continuing the momentum of our campaign to promote heart health.
Heart disease affects nearly all of us, and we recognize the profound impact it has on our families and communities. In honor of this cause, we also paid tribute to a beloved teammate of ours, Kevin Cassidy, who dedicated many years of service at our Peru, Illinois location. To commemorate his legacy, we placed a ribbon on our heart walk t-shirts, reminding us of the personal connections we have to this cause. We carry Kevin’s memory in all of our hearts.
This donation will directly benefit the AHA’s mission to reduce heart disease and stroke and will support crucial research and programs aimed at combating these issues, which remains as one of the leading causes of death in the U.S.
From Chris Shives, Executive Director, American Heart Association – Nebraska, “We are deeply grateful to Sapp Bros. for their generous support and commitment to heart health. Their efforts in promoting the American Heart Association’s ‘Life’s Essential 8’ have not only raised vital funds but also heightened awareness about the importance of maintaining cardiovascular health. By adopting these eight essential steps—such as eating better, being more active, and managing blood pressure—we can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and improve overall well-being. This partnership exemplifies how community engagement and education can drive meaningful change and save lives.”
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed and participated in this campaign. Whether you donated, walked, or encouraged others to take part, your support makes an impact.
