$103,000 raised for Folds of Honor and UNO Scholarships!
Celebrating its 30th year, the annual Sapp Bros Memorial Golf Outing was another great success! The event took place at Tiburon Golf Club on June 30th, featuring great weather and even better support from our generous sponsors.
Thanks to donations of many generous individuals, we raised a grand total of $103,000 for the event’s beneficiaries, Folds of Honor and the UNO College of Speech-Language Pathology. This total marks the largest amount we’ve ever raised!
The golf outing also included some friendly competition, and team Tartan Oil emerged victorious. Congratulations to James Little, Ryan Morris, John Scott and Smith Underwood! Their win was inscribed on the Sapp Brothers Memorial trophy, on display at the Sapp Bros. corporate office.
A total of 272 golfers took to the greens, participating in fun challenges and opportunities to raise funds for good causes.
Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization, provides educational scholarships to children and spouses of fallen or disabled military members and first responders. These funds offer crucial support to families of those who have courageously defended our country and local communities.
Alongside the generous donations from golfers, Sapp Bros. presented a check for $60,000 to Folds of Honor during the event’s banquet. These funds were raised in May at each of our Travel Centers through contributions from guests, along with a $25,000 match provided by Sapp Bros. Additional funds for the nonprofit organization were collected during a bike rally event at our Harrisonville Travel Center.
The event also supported the UNO College of Speech-Language Pathology, which offers a Master of Science program for individuals pursuing careers in treating speech, language, and other communication difficulties.
The day concluded with a banquet that included a live auction and featured speaker Litisha Shelvin. Shelvin, who served our country as an active duty member of the United States Army, retired after 26 years of honorable service. She is married to retired Army Sergeant First Class Leroy Shelvin, and together they have three daughters who are recipients of Folds of Honor scholarships. She shared inspiring words about her journey and the impact Folds of Honor has had on her family.
