Driver of the Year 2024

Our Work to Zero Hero program was established in 2021 to recognize and reward drivers for their professionalism on the road. To qualify, drivers need to go a full year of completing all monthly training while avoiding any safety events such as no accidents, no mixed product events, no reportable spills, no failed DOT or HOS inspections.

In March, the Sapp Bros. team celebrated the Work to Zero Hero Driver of the Year award to recognize the tireless efforts of drivers that stood out amongst the pack. This year out of the thirty-two nominees, thirteen of them also qualified the previous year, demonstrating a consistent level of admirable professionalism within the group.

Out of the deserving finalists, Steve Miller from Peru, Illinois was selected as the winner for his attention to detail in his role as a driver. His belief in “rules, regulations and best work practices,” show just how truly dedicated he is to achieving the final result: customer satisfaction. His manager admires Steve’s “positive attitude, eagerness to grow the business and that he will take on challenges even when his plate is full.” His positive attitude, professionalism and commitment to our safety culture attitude is what makes Steve our Hero and Driver of the Year. Well done Steve!

All drivers that qualified for the Driver of the Year were awarded a cash bonus with an additional congratulatory gifts to the Driver of the Year and each of the region’s finalists.
